PRIMARY SCHOOL G. RODARI

The "G. Rodari" school sits on an elevated area with an excellent view of the natural surroundings. However, the potential of the location is not fully utilized by the existing building, which, from its interior, denies views towards the valley in front.

The design concept arises from the desire to provide the new school with direct communication with the valley, which becomes a visual endpoint for the observer and traces a guideline that will become the generating axis of the floor plan. The desire to observe the surroundings materializes by opening up the main facade to multiply viewpoints and stimulate dialogue with the surroundings.

This architecture thus takes on the characteristics of a "telescope" that allows the user to appreciate the landscape and its peculiarities from multiple perspectives. The project volumes follow the terrain's morphology, cantilevering towards the valley as if to focus on it, to design a school that symbolically extends towards its community. The concept finds its response not only in formal results but also in a pedagogical approach that encourages children to be curious, to look beyond boundaries, and to project themselves towards new adventures. Hence, the idea of "a curious school that looks far ahead" arises.
